'End of magician's magic': BJP leader Gajendra Singh Shekhawat's veiled jibe at Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot amid Congress's poll debacle

Jaipur: Performing over and above expectations, the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) is on the way to sweeping Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, and Madhya Pradesh, the latest election result trends indicate.

In Rajasthan, the BJP is currently leading in 115 seats, while the Congress is only ahead in 70 seats, according to the Election Commission of India.

As the BJP marched closer to unseating Congress in Rajasthan, Union Minister, and BJP leader Gajendra Singh Shekhawat took a jibe at the state CM Ashok Gehlot and said, "Jadugar ka jadoo khatam ho gaya hai." (the magic of the magician is over).

"BJP will win with a huge majority in Rajasthan. Jadugar ka jadoo khatam ho gaya hai. In MP, the BJP will form govt with a 2/3 majority. In Chhattisgarh, the party will form the government," Gajendra Singh Shekhawat told ANI on Sunday.

"I have been saying from day one that the BJP will get a huge majority. BJP will win in Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan. This is due to the work done by PM Modi to bring change in the lives of the poor," he added.

As of now, the saffron party is leading in the election trends in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh. Whereas, the Congress is likely to secure a comfortable victory in Telangana.

Recently, a mysterious ‘Red Diary’ triggered controversy in Rajasthan, with dismissed Rajasthan minister, Rajendra Gudha, asserting that he obtained the "red diary" from the home of Congress leader Dharmendra Rathore during an Income Tax raid in 2020.

Gudha claimed that this action was purportedly carried out under the instructions of Chief Minister Gehlot.

A total of 1862 candidates were in the fray in the Rajasthan elections, with the voter count reaching 5,25,38,105. Among them are 1,70,99,334 electorates were aged 18-30, and within this demographic, 22,61,008 constitute new voters in the 18-19 age range.

The BJP fielded 59 MLAs, including defected Congress MLA Girraj Singh Malinga, along with six Lok Sabha and one Rajya Sabha members.

The Congress fielded 97 MLAs, comprising seven independents and one from the BJP—Shobharani Kushwah, who was expelled from the saffron party last year.

To form government in Rajasthan, a party or coalition should reach a majority mark of 100.

The elections in the Karanpur constituency were postponed due to the death of Congress candidate Gurmeet Singh Koonar.
