Drones target locations across Rajasthan, J&K, Punjab, Gujarat as Pakistan breaches ceasefire

Residents of Jammu and Kashmir’s capital, Srinagar, were rattled late Saturday night by loud explosions.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah took to X to report the ceasefire violation.

"This is no ceasefire. The air defence units in the middle of Srinagar just opened up," Abdullah posted on social media, sharing a video capturing the blasts.

According to media reports, four explosions were heard in Rajasthan's bordering district of Jaisalmer as Pakistan breached the ceasefire and resorted to unprovoked shelling near the Line of Control and the International Border. 

According to an India Today report, suspicious movement was noticed in Nagrota in Jammu and an alert sentry at the Military Station issued a challenge, leading to a brief exchange of fire.

The sentry sustained a minor injury. Search operations have been launched to track the intruder(s).

Earlier in the evening, drone activity was reported in Nagrota amid heavy shelling from the Pakistani Army in parts of J&K.

Sirens were sounded in Jaisalmer city in between blackouts as Pakistan broke the ceasefire agreement.

Jammu Kashmir’s Uri, Poonch and Rajouri witnessed drone activity continued in many parts these places on Saturday late evening.

However, the LoC sectors like Uri, Tangdhar, Keran, Nowgam, Gurez, and major areas of Rajouri and Poonch remained silent compared to the heavy artillery fire of the past few days, defence sources said.

Right now, the situation is under control and drone activity has also ceased, said the India Today report.

The situation is being closely monitored, the sources added.

Amid the Pak ceasefire violation, Gurdaspur administration said blackout was ordered as a precautionary measure.

The officials said it would be removed after confirmation from the armed forces, the district authorities said.

Major drone activity in parts of Punjab was noticed.

Drone sightings were reported from multiple areas of Punjab. Drones have been seen in Gurudaspur, Ferozepur, Pathankot, Hoshiyarpur, Jalandhar and Faridkot.

As Pakistan resorted to unprovoked breach of ceasefire, a red alert was issued in Rajasthan's Sriganganagar.

The administration urged the people to switch off all lights amid heightened security.

Drones were sighted in Gujarat's Kutch, which borders Pakistan.

Pakistani drones have been sighted in Gujarat's Kutch, state minister Harsh Sanghvi said.

"Several drones have been spotted in the Kutch district. A complete blackout will be implemented now. Please stay safe,Don’t panic," he posted on X.

India has slammed the ceasefire violation by Pakistan and asked it to act responsibly and reign in the breaches.

Despite the high-stakes diplomatic development, Pakistan resorted to escalation, rasing concerns over its capability to honour international agreements.

“The armed forces are giving an adequate and appropriate response to these violations, and we take very, very serious notice of these violations,” India's Foreign Secretay Vikram Misri said, underscoring India’s readiness to deal strongly with Pakistan's misadventures.

“We call upon Pakistan to take appropriate steps to address these violations and deal with the situation with seriousness and responsibility,” Misri stated.
