New Delhi, June 7 (IBNS): External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar will visit Bhutan on Friday, officials said.

He will visit the neighbouring nation on June 7 and 8.

This is Dr. Jaishankar’s first visit abroad as the External Affairs Minister and reflects the importance that India attaches to its bilateral relationship with Bhutan, a close friend and neighbour.

"During the visit, External Affairs Minister is expected to receive audience with H.M. Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, the King of Bhutan; call-on Lyonchhen Dr. Lotay Tshering, Prime Minister of Bhutan; and meet his counterpart Lyonpo Dr. Tandi Dorji, Foreign Minister of Bhutan," read a statement issued by the MEA.
