Doctor booked for allegedly raping his colleague in Assam’s Dibrugarh

Guwahati: A doctor was arrested on charge of raping his colleague in Assam’s Dibrugarh district.

The accused 34-year-old doctor was practicing at a private hospital at Dibrugarh town in the Upper Assam district.

Dibrugarh district Superintendent of Police (SP) Shwetank Mishra said the accused doctor was arrested on charge of raping his colleague.

“Based on a complaint lodged by the victim on Thursday, a case was registered and we have arrested the accused doctor,” Shwetank Mishra said.

According to reports, the victim, who is also a doctor in the same hospital, is hailing from Dadra and Nagar Haveli.

The victim mentioned in her complaint that the accused doctor had raped her in a cabin of the hospital on Wednesday night.

Based on the victim’s complaint a case was registered at Barbari police outpost under Dibrugarh police station under Section 376 (rape) and 328 (causing harm) of the IPC.
