New Delhi: Bangladesh Deputy High Commissioner Andalib Elias on Tuesday said  India and Bangladesh’s first cross-border oil pipeline is the real manifestation of the wonderful friendship that is shared between the two neighbouring nations.

“That’s a real manifestation of the wonderful friendship that these two countries enjoy and the deep relationship of trust and mutual respect that the two Prime Ministers have with each other,” Elias was quoted as saying by ANI.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his counterpart Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina would open jointly the maiden cross-border oil pipeline on 18 March for diesel transportation to Bangladesh, Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen said earlier.

“Good news is India will send us diesel . . . the (Oil) pipeline has been completed,” he told newspersons at a briefing at the ministry in the afternoon.

He added: “The two prime ministers will inaugurate the pipeline on 18 March (through videoconferencing)”.
