Bengaluru/Hubballi: Quoting Karnataka BJP strongman BS Yediyurappa, disgruntled BJP leader and former CM Jagadish Shettar on Saturday said denying him a ticket will cost at least 20 to 25 constituencies in North Karnataka.

"Former CM BS Yediyurappa has also said that if Shettar does not get a ticket, it will have a bearing in many places. It will have an immediate effect in many constituencies in north Karnataka -at least 20 to 25 constituencies," he told reporters here.

"It will indeed have an effect across Karnataka, but the immediate impact will be seen in 20 to 25 constituencies," Shettar added.

Shettar is aspiring to contest from Hubballi-Dharwad Central.

He said he will wait until this evening for the party leadership to announce his candidature for the forthcoming elections.

"As promised, if the party leadership does not announce the ticket in his favour before evening, he will decide on the future course of action in accordance with the wishes of his supporters," he said.

Shettar said he was hoping to win with a record margin of votes.

He has explained his position to party President JP Nadda and other senior leaders. "I have a lot of respect for PM Narendra Modi, JP Nadda and others. I still have hopes of getting a ticket," he said.

Prior to this, Shettar had a long closed-door meeting with Union Minister Prahlad Joshi in his house.
