New Delhi/IBNS: In one of the sharpest spikes in the number of daily cases, the national capital registered 356 new patients of Coronavirus in the last 24 hours, taking the total tally to 1510. Four more people died here which increased the total death toll in the city to 28.

The number of COVID-19 containment zones in Delhi has also been increased to 47 on Monday.

The Delhi government from Monday started sanitisation and disinfection drives in the containment zones created across the city to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

High-risk zones ascertained by the health department in the city for which the Delhi government has availed machines that can disinfect up to 20,000 square metre area per hour.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on Tuesday address his nation for the fourth time since the outbreak of COVID-19 in the country as most of the states are set to enter into the second phase of a protracted lockdown.

According to the government data, 9352 people have been infected in the country so far with at least 308 deaths.

With aggressive testing and precautionary measures, Kerala, which had reported the first COVID-19 cases in the country, has flattened the curve over the last few weeks.

The southern state, which was leading in COVID-19 positive cases once, has settled the tally at under 400 (376 to be precise).

Though India's tally is far comforting than the ones coming out from the developed western nations, experts have warned the South Asian country of getting its poor health infrastructure overwhelmed if the figure further jumps.
