New Delhi/IBNS: The Delhi government had exaggerated the oxygen requirement by four times at the peak of COVID-19 crisis, a Supreme Court panel said.

In its interim report, the panel stated as quoted by NDTV, "The Delhi government's claim of 1,140 Metric Tonnes was four times the calculated consumption as per bed formula, which was 289 MT only."

"The excess supply of oxygen affected other states in need of oxygen," it added.

Four Delhi hospitals have been called out for excess demand of oxygen.

The hospitals are Singhal Hospital, Aruna Asif Ali Hospital, ESIC Model Hospital and Liferay Hospital.

The data provided by the four hospitals were wrong, said the panel report.

Slamming Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Gautam Gambhir tweeted, "If you have any shame left @ArvindKejriwal, hold one of your PCs now & apologise to the nation for inflating oxygen need BY FOUR TIMES during second wave!"
