Delhi experiences coldest day, fog affects transportation
New Delhi, Dec 28 (IBNS) The national capital region is witnessing the coldest day of the winter on Sunday with the temperature dipping to 2.6 degrees Celsius as thick blanket of fog disrupted traffice on the surface and air.
The temperature in Delhi is the coldest in past five years.
Reports said more than 50 flights were cancelled besides scores of trains.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi could not fly to Ranchi to take part in the swearing-in of a new BJP chief minister of Jharkhand.
"Was to travel to Jharkhand to attend the oath taking ceremony of Shri Raghubar Das but am unable to do so due to weather conditions," tweeted the PM.
However, the Met office forecast a clear sky ahead.
