New Delhi, May 11 (IBNS) Protesting against lack of security, Delhi Transport Corporation drivers have refused to run the buses on Monday, a day after one of their colleagues was beaten to death allegedly by a motorcylist.

Later in the day on Sunday, the accused motorcylist was arrested  in a case of road rage.

Holding firm on their stand, the DTC drivers and conductors have said that they will not allow buses to ply until victim's family is given a compensation of Rs 1 crore and a family member is given a permanent job in DTC.

Ashok Kumar, the deceased bus driver, was a father of two. He was a resident of Haryana.

The Delhi government announced a compensation of Rs.  5 lakh for his family.

The government has also said that a permanent job in the transport department will be given to one family member of the deceased.
