Delhi-bound Rajdhani Express hits cement pillar in Gujarat

New Delhi/UNI: The Mumbai-Delhi Rajdhani Express train hit a cement pillar, which some miscreants had allegedly placed on the railway track near Valsad in south Gujarat, police said on Saturday.

The incident happened around 7:10 pm on January 14.

According to the police, the incident was a deliberate attempt to derail the Mumbai-Hazrat Nizamuddin August Kranti Rajdhani Express train.

"Some miscreants had placed a cement pillar on the track. After the train hit the pillar, the train manager immediately informed the local station master," Rajkumar Pandian, IG Surat Range, told reporters.

No one was injured in the incident, according to the police sources.

After the incident, the senior police and railway officials rushed to the spot to take stalk of the situation.

Meanwhile, the police have filed a case against unknown persons.

According to reports, after being hit by the train, the pillar got pushed off the track.
