Days after Bulandshahr violence, Yogi government transfers police officers
Lucknow, Dec 8 (IBNS): Days after the Bulandshahr violence, in which a police officer was killed by a frenzied mob over suspicion of cow-slaughtering, the Uttar Pradesh government on Saturday transferred a number of police officers, media reports said.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SP) Krishna Bahadur Singh has been transferred to the DG headquarters in Lucknow, the capital city of the state.
Two other police officers- Syana Circle Officer DSP Satya Prakash Sharma and Chingravathi police station in-charge Suresh Kumar- have also been transferred by the state government.
A mob outrage over reports of cow slaughter claimed the life of police officer Subodh Kumar Singh and a villager as Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh witnessed spiralling violence on Monday.
The body of Singh was found hanging out of a police vehicle after a mob attacked the policemen with stones and firearms.
The policeman was allegedly shot dead by the mob, according to an NDTV report which said the violence was sparked by reports of discovery of 25 carcasses of cows near the police station.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath referred to the incident as an "accident".
One report said slain police inspector Singh was the investigating officer in the Mohammad Akhlaq lynching case of Dadri in 2015.

Bajrang Dal leader Yogesh Raj, the prime accused in the Bulandshahr violence case, was arrested on Thursday. The violence had claimed two lives.
Raj, in a video released earlier had said that he was not involved in the stone-pelting and firing incident over cow slaughter that took place at Bulandshahr’s Chingrawati police chowki.
Police are on the lookout for a soldier in the case of the murder of inspector Singh.
According to NDTV, police are investigating whether Jeetu Fauji, a jawan posted in Srinagar, could have fired the shot that killed police inspector Singh.
A senior police officer involved in the investigation has said the soldier, a local resident, has been seen in video footage firing a gun, Hindustan Times said.
