CRPF Cobra commando Sunil Kalita, hailing from Kamalpur in Kamrup (rural) district of Assam, was injured in a Maoist attack in Jharkhand on May 28 and was undergoing treatment at the AIIMS, New Delhi, where he succumbed last evening.

Official sources said here today that Kalita’s mortal remains were flown to Assam after according the guard of honour at a CRPF camp in the national capital today.
The last rites with full military honours will be performed at his native place at Kamalpur tomorrow.

Kalita had joined the CRPF in 2011 and had tied the knot two months back, and hadn’t returned home after resuming duty a few days after his marriage.
