Crisis in Tripura BJP: Alliance partner IPFT left for Delhi to meet JP Nadda

Agartala/UNI: A four-member team of BJP’s alliance partner in Tripura government led by its General Secretary and Tribal Welfare Minister of the state Mevar Kr Jamatia left for Delhi this morning responding to the call of BJP national president J P Nadda to discuss the ongoing crisis in the government led by Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb.

The Deb led BJP-IPFT government has been facing large-scale dissidence over the past one and half years following the alleged vendetta politics of the Chief Minister and indulgence to corruption in the system. Allegedly, his unintended interference in the party activities has also taken the biggest toll on the organisation of both BJP and IPFT.

Besides, 15 dissidence BJP MLAs, all 10 tribal MLAs and MP Rabati Tripura and majority MLAs of IPFT became hostile against Biplab Kumar Deb for his autocratic decision during ADC poll that resulted in a miserable defeat of BJP-IPFT.

The tribal MLAs of BJP were annoyed further when Biplab Deb targeted them for raising voice against him to central BJP leadership. According to the report, Deb has withdrawn security from MP Rebati Tripura’s house here. During the visit of BJP national general secretary, B L Santosh, MLAs, MPs and the senior leaders have raised voice against the Chief Minister seeking his removal.

Nadda is expected to have a separate meeting with the leaders of the dissidence BJP MLAs shortly after discussion with IPFT leaders to resolve the crisis in state BJP.

Meanwhile, after winning West Bengal Trinamool Congress has turned eyes on Tripura to capitalise on the inner conflict of state BJP and dissidence against the Chief Minister and announced to poach in BJP along with opposition CPI-M.
