Covid-19 vaccine access strategy should have been in place by now: Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi/UNI/IBNS: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday attacked the BJP government at the Centre for its failure to devise a COVID-19 vaccine access strategy.

In a tweet, Rahul said that the government's unpreparedness in this regard is alarming.

"A fair and inclusive COVID vaccine access strategy should have been in place by now. But there are still no signs of it. GOI’s unpreparedness is alarming," he said.

In an earlier tweet, on Aug 14, Rahul had said that India needs a clearly-defined, inclusive and equitable vaccine access strategy ensuring availability, affordability and fair distribution.

Three Indian vaccine candidates are presently at different levels of trials.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his Independence Day speech on Aug 15 had said the country will begin manufacturing of the vaccines, once the scientists give nod to them.
