Kolkata/IBNS: The Mamata Banerjee government in West Bengal on Wednesday decided to open some factories, standalone shops including tea stalls in the state's green zones which are death of Covid-19 cases.

The decision was announced by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee after holding a meeting with her ministers at state headquarters Nabanna.

"We are waiting for the central government's decision. But we have taken a few decisions today, said the CM.

The state government has allowed the opening of stationaries, bookstores, standalone hardware and electronic stores, tea stalls (for home delivery), paan-cigarette stalls, some factories from Monday.

"25 of 45 jute mills are functioning in green zones," informed Banerjee who has stressed on social distancing and usage of mask.

In green zones, doctors are also allowed to open their chambers maintaining social distancing norms.

Banerjee, however, cleared the lockdown will continue in the next month in containment zones which will have no relaxations.

"We will have to continue lockdown for some more days because Covid situation is no better in the country," said Banerjee and added, "Lockdown will continue in containment zones."

The CM on Wednesday once again criticised the Centre for not maintaining "clarity" over the lockdown norms.

"We need clarity from Centre over lockdown and relaxations. On one hand, the Centre is saying lockdown should continue, on the other hand they are allowing shops to continue," she said.

Meanwhile, West Bengal reported 33 new cases in last 24 hours taking the tally of active cases to 550. The death toll stands at 22.

"With five patients discharged in last 24 hours, 124 persons have cured so far," said West Bengal chief secretary Rajiva Sinha who informed that the state has tested 14,620 samples including 1,397 in last one day.
