Convicted person escape from police remand in Tripura district

Ambassa (Tripura), Apr 29 (UNI) An undertrial convict in police remand escaped from Ambassa police station in the subdivision of Ambassa in the northern Tripura district of Dhalai here today.

According to sources, on April 27 last, police nabbed one Alindra Debbarma(26) from Jagannathpur area for conducting burglary for some days.

On the next day, police produced him before a local court and demanded for three days police remand which the court granted and he escaped from Ambassa police station.

When asked, the Superintendent of Police(SP) Dhalai, Sudipto Das said, "The police station has water problem in its toilet for long. Hence the convict has to be taken outside in another toilet. From there he has escaped suddenly". He has expressed hope of nabbing him soon.

The local people raised question about the security arrangements in the police station and the role of the officials.
