Constable opens fire at his colleague, five BSF troopers killed

New Delhi: Five BSF troopers were killed on Sunday when a Constable opened fire at his colleagues at a BSF regional centre in Khasa, Amritsar.

The BSF said. "In an unfortunate incident, 05 BSF troops were injured on March 6, 2022 due to fratricide committed by Constable Satteppa SK at Hq 144 Bn Khasa, Amritsar. Constable Satteppa SK was also injured in the incident."

"Out of the 6 injured, 5 troops including Constable Satteppa, have lost their lives," the BSF said in a brief statement.

Further the BSF said the condition of one of the injured trooper is also critical.

Sources told UNI more BSF personnel received bullet injuries in the incident and they are being treated at Guru Nanak Dev Hospital.

BSF has set up a court of inquiry to ascertain the facts in the case. The local police have also initiated an investigation in the incident.
