Congress will win at least 20 seats in MP: Digvijaya Singh

Bhopal, Mar 27 (UNI): Rajya Sabha Member and erstwhile Madhya Pradesh chief minister Digvijaya Singh, who is the Congress’ Bhopal parliamentary constituency nominee, expressed confidence on Wednesday that the party would emerge victorious in at least 20 of the state’s 29 Lok Sabha voting areas.

“The party is leaving no stone unturned vis-a-vis the polls and all our leaders are united. I express my gratitude to Congress President Rahul Gandhi for making me the candidate for a seat that was once occupied by Dr Shankar Dayal Sharma who went on to adorn the office of President,” he told media here.

Responding to a query, Singh said that if the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) considers itself a cultural organisation then it should keep out of the political sphere.

“None of my family members or ancestors ever owed allegiance to the Hindu Mahasabha or the RSS,” he added.

The BJP is yet to announce its candidate for Bhopal, which is its citadel.
