New Delhi/UNI: The Congress on Thursday staged a walkout in the Lok Sabha during the Zero Hour over the issue of the 'misuse' of electoral bonds scheme.

Raising the issue during the Zero Hour, Congress member Manish Tewari said that he wanted to draw the attention of the House to the electoral bonds scheme.

He said earlier, the electoral bond scheme was limited to General Elections.

'Earlier there was a provision to issue electoral bonds only for the Lok Sabha elections,' the Congress member said.

He pointed out that despite the opposition of the Reserve Bank and the Election Commission, the government issued electoral bonds.

Tewari alleged that corruption had been covered up through the electoral bonds scheme.

Earlier, there was a uproar in the House by Congress members during the Question Hour over the issue electoral bonds and disinvestment of PSUs.

As soon as the Question Hour commenced, members of the principal party entered the well and raised the issue of electoral bonds and disinvestment of PSUs.

On Wednesday in a Cabinet decision, the Centre has announced disinvestment plan of five PSUs.
