New Delhi/Srinagar, Aug 8 (IBNS): Couple of days after the Centre withdrew Jammu and Kashmir's special status, Congress Rajya Sabha leader Ghulam Nabi Azad will visit the valley on Thursday.

According to reports, Azad, a former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister, will be sent back from airport at a time Section 144 is being imposed in the state.

Several Kashmir leaders including former Chief Ministers- Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti- have been kept under detention.

The Bharatiya Janata arty (BJP) government on Monday scrapped Articles 370 and 35A through a presidential order, a move which received a reasonable support from some opposition parties and few key Congress leaders like Jyotiraditya Scindia, Milind Deora.

Also the government took away the statehood of Jammu and Kashmir and bifurcated it into two Union Territories, Jammu and Kashmir with an assembly and Ladakh without an assembly.
