New Delhi/UNI: Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Wednesday slammed the Congress party for disrupting the proceedings of Parliament and said they are doing this just to stay "politically relevant".

"It is shameful that the Congress is playing with this country's democracy and it is heading to a new low," he said here at a press conference.

"This is not a fight for democracy but an individual," Scindia said, adding that Rahul Gandhi is not the first one to be disqualified from Lok Sabha.

"Jayalalithaa and Azam Khan were disqualified in the past, but why is there so much hue and cry? Why are people wearing black clothes," Scindia asked.

Attacking Rahul Gandhi over his disqualification, he said, "It's not for the first time that someone is disqualified from the Parliamentary membership."

He added that "the way outcry is being made right now over the disqualification is unparalleled and shameful".

Scindia's comments come as Congress continues to hold massive protests against the disqualification of Rahul Gandhi.

Alleging that Rahul Gandhi is trying to pressurise the country's judiciary, the Minster said Congress is trying to project Rahul Gandhi's personal legal fight as a fight for democracy.. adding this is not a fight for democracy but for an individual.

"The way he went to appeal, halted the transportation, causing inconvenience to the public and what not. Is this the Gandhian principle they talk about? Why this much outcry? Why this special treatment to this one person?" he questioned.
