Cold wave sweeps India; Amritsar records lowest min temp of 4.4 deg C

Pune/UNI: Night temperatures were above normal in some parts of Arunachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat region and Kerala as well as in remaining parts of Odisha, madhya Maharashtra, Vidarbha, Tamil Nadu and south interior Karnataka.

Night temperatures were appreciably above normal in some parts of Assam, Meghalaya, West Bengal, Sikkim, Odisha, Jharkhand, east Rajasthan, madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Tamil Nadu and south interior Karnataka as well as in remaining parts of Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Rayalaseema.

Night temperatures were markedly above normal in some parts of Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Rayalaseema and north interior Karnataka as well as in remaining parts of Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi.
     
Night temperatures were below normal in some parts of Himachal Pradesh, and Saurashtra and Kutch.

The lowest minimum temperature of 4.4 degrees Celsius was recorded at Amritsar in Punjab.
     
Cold day condition very likely in isolated pockets over Uttarakhand.

Cold wave and ground frost conditions very likely in some parts over Punjab.

Heavy rainfall very likely in isolated places over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.

Thunderstorm accompanied with hail very likely at isolated places over east Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Sub- Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, east Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam and Telangana.

Dense to very dense fog very likely at isolated places over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, and east Uttar Pradesh.

The northeast monsoon has subdued over Kerala.

Cold day condition was observed in isolated pockets over west Rajasthan.

Cold to severe cold wave condition was observed in isolated pockets over Haryana and Punjab.

Very dense fog was observed in isolated pockets over Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, and eastern parts of Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.
Dense fog was observed in isolated pockets over western parts of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh whereas moderate fog was observed in isolated pockets over Punjab.

At 0830 Friday, 25 meter visibility was recorded at Bhiwani, Pilani, Khajuraho whereas 50 meter visibility observed at Barabanki, Guna, Chittorgarh and the city of Patiala had 200 meter visibility.
       
Rain or thundershowers occurred at most places in Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, east Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Uttarakhand and Vidarbha, and at a few places in Assam, Meghalaya, Odisha, east and west Uttar Pradesh, Marathwada, Telangana, Lakshadweep,Arunachal Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, west Madhya Pradesh, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, north interior Karnataka and Kerala.

Mainly dry weather prevailed in Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Konkan and Goa, madhya Maharashtra, Rayalaseema, coastal and south interior Karnataka, and Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
