Chopping off of hand of an Indian woman in Saudi Arabia is brutal: Sushma Swaraj

New Delhi, Oct 9 (IBNS) External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Friday called the alleged chopping off of hand of an Indian woman by her employer in Saudi Arabia as 'brutal'.

"Chopping of hand of Indian lady - We are very much disturbed over the brutal manner in which Indian lady has been treated in Saudi Arabia" Swaraj tweeted.

She said the matter has been taken up with the Saudi Arabian authorities.

"This is unacceptable. We have taken this up with Saudi authorities," she said.

"Our embassy is in touch with the victim," the senior minister said.

The victim has been identified as Kashturi Munirathinam.

She was working as a domestic help in Saudi Arabia.

According to reports, her employer had allegedly  chopped off right hand as she tried to escape torture and harassment.
