Chhattisgarh: Congress ministers to be present at the party office to hear workers’ grievances

Raipur, Jun 2 (UNI): At least one Congress minister will be present at Rajiv Bhavan (Congress Bhavan) on a rotation basis, from Monday to Saturday for three hours to hear grievances of party workers and take note of their suggestions.

The decision to this effect was taken by Pradesh Congress Committee at its working committee meeting held on Sunday to review the causes behind the party’s humiliating defeat in Lok Sabha elections.

With the availability of ministers at Congress Bhavan, the workers will have direct access to the government which will help sort out all sorts of problems and issues.

Despite coming to power in the state after its emphatic victory in assembly elections, held five months ago, the party could win only two out of 11 seats in Lok Sabha elections. The party took other crucial decisions at the meeting.

All party leaders and workers insisted that Rahul Gandhi should continue as the party’s national president. The decision aims at establishing direct contact with party workers.

It was also decided to provide the opportunity to experienced persons on the booth level. Those who worked in elections will be entrusted with the responsibility of booth. This will help strengthen the party at the booth level.

Deliberations were also held on the leaders who came from other parties. It was decided to entrust the leaders who switched over from other parties with important responsibilities.

The party also decided to take action against dissidents, who are considered to be the cause behind party’s poor performance in the elections. It was alleged that dissidents worked against the party candidates leading to their defeat in elections. Demand was raised for disciplinary action against dissidents so that no party worker or leader can think of working against the party interests in the future.

According to information available, Pradesh Congress Committee has decided not to give charge for corporations or boards to any MLA or candidate. It has been learnt that the party will send its ordinary leaders and workers to corporations and boards. Chhattisgarh minister T.S. Singhdeo said the fall in vote percentage of Congress in urban areas was shocking. It required deliberations, he said.
