Kolkata/IBNS: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday made minor changes to her cabinet by reallocating some portfolios and giving Chandrima Bhattacharya full charge of the finance department.

Meanwhile, state transport minister Firhad Hakim has been given the additional charge of the department of housing and urban affairs.

Hakim used to lead the housing ministry in Banerjee’s cabinet for a decade till the last assembly election.

In 2021, he had not been given this portfolio, which is considered an important department in the state.

The fresh reallocation of portfolios was approved by Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankar.

"WB Guv Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar reallocates portfolios under article 166(3)- with Smt. Chandrima Bhattacharya getting Charge of Finance, earlier with CM & Shri Firhad Hakim also getting Department of Urban Development & Municipal Affairs earlier held by Smt. Chandrima Bhattacharya," Dhankar's official Twitter handle posted.

Chandrima Bhattacharya has been in-charge of the urban development department and was also junior minister of state for finance after Amit Mitra resigned and Banerjee herself shouldered the responsibility of the finance portfolio.

Former finance minister Amit Mitra will continue as the principal chief advisor on finance and economy.
