CBI summons Bengal's political biggies for Saradha interrogation

Kolkata, Nov 21 (IBNS): The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday summoned West Bengal textile minister Shyamapada Mukherjee, Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha MP Srinjoy Bose for interrogation in connection with the multi-crore Saradha chitfund scam.

Sources said the CBI sleuths had sent summon notice to state transport minister Madan Mitra as well but he managed to give it a miss citing health reason. Mitra is now admitted at the state-run premier SSKM Hospital here.

The state Transport Minister spent four days at a private nursing home and on Thursday switched to the SSKM Hospital. He received the CBI’s summons on Tuesday.

The federal investigation agency also called ex-Trinamool Congress’ Lok Sabha MP and now a state Congress leader Somen Mitra. The veteran Congress leader is expected arrive at the CBI officer at Salt Lake’s CGO Complex at around 2 pm on Friday.

“As a responsible citizen it is my duty to help the investigation agency in connection with the Saradha ponzi meltdown. I will perform that. I have done nothing wrong. So there is no question to be worried at all,” Srinjoy Bose told media persons while entering the CBI officer at Salt Lake.

State textile minister Shyamapada Mukherjee also assured that he would cooperate with the CBI officials and help the central agency with all the documents he had on his cement factory sell-off deal to Saradha Group kingpin Sudipto Sen.

The CBI which is investigating into the scam already filed two chargesheets in the ponzi meltdown case.
