Catering truck hits IndiGo aircraft at Kolkata airport, flight delayed
A ground handling mishap at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport on Tuesday evening saw a catering vehicle crash into an IndiGo aircraft, forcing the plane to be grounded and raising safety concerns, media reports said.
The incident occurred at parking bay 51, where a catering vehicle reportedly lost control, rolled forward, and collided with the engine of a stationary IndiGo aircraft.
Initial reports indicate that the aircraft sustained minor damage in the collision. No injuries have been reported so far.
In a statement, IndiGo said, “A third-party unmanned vehicle on the apron moved and came in contact with a parked IndiGo aircraft.”
Flight disrupted, aircraft grounded
The affected aircraft, scheduled to operate flight 6E 6663 from Kolkata to Guwahati, has been grounded for detailed inspection and maintenance.

The airline confirmed that an alternate aircraft has been arranged to operate the flight.
IndiGo said it is working closely with airport authorities to investigate the incident, as questions arise over safety protocols involving ground vehicles on the apron.
