Case against load man for stealing sack of onion

Puducherry/UNI: Police  on Saturday registered a case against a man working as a loader in the Grand bazaar here on charges of stealing a sack of Onion from a wholesale dealer.

According to  police, the man, later identified as  Sakthivel of Gandhithirunallur here allegedly stole a sack of Onion and tried to take it away on his bike.

Noticing this, the shopkeeper with the help of other traders caught  Sakthivel, thrashed him and tied him.

Later, they handed him over to the police.

Police registered a case against him and is investigating the matter.

It may be noted that Onion prices have skyrocketed across the country and is being sold at Rs.140 a kilogram today at Puducherry
