Case against journalist who shot video of roti, salt served to UP students
Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government has filed a case against the journalist who had shot a video which shown students in a state-run school were served roti and salt in midday meals, media reports said.
In the video which went viral days ago, students of Mirzapur school were spotted having rotis and salt instead of pulses, rice, rotis and vegetables which were about to be served.
In its complaint, the Block Education Officer of the school area accused journalist Pawan Jaiswal to defame the state government.
The First Information Report (FIR) also states that the village head of the particular area, who has also been accused by the officer in his complaint, should have arranged vegetables instead of calling a journalist.
Jaiswal and the village head have been accused of cheating and criminal conspiracy.
In a separate incident in West Bengal, students at a government-run school in Hoogly were served boiled rice and salt as their midday meal, drawing ire from the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) which in turn rules Uttar Pradesh.
