Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau visits Golden Temple, Partition Museum

Amritsar, Feb 21 (IBNS): Spending a busy day in Punjab, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Wednesday visited the Golden Temple and  the Partition Museum here.

The PM visited the temple with his wife Sophie Gregoire Trudeau  and children.

Justin Trudeau offered his prayers at the Golden Temple.

He was  presented with a traditional robe of honour.

Justin Trudeau was seen sporting a  white kurta-pyjama during his hour-long visit to the  shrine.

The PM's family members were also seen wearing   traditional Punjabi outfits during the visit to the temple.

Canadian Defence minister Harjit Sajjan, Indian minister of state (Independent Charge) for Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri and Punjab Cultural Affairs and Tourism minister Navjot Singh Sidhu accompanied the PM to the temple.

Tight security arrangements were made in Punjab for the visit of the foreign leader.

Justin Trudeau also met Punjab Chief Minister  Captain Amarinder Singh.

  Trudeau, who is on a week-long visit to the country, will stay in India till Feb 23.

He has already visited several Indian states which include Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and Maharashtra.

Trudeau on Monday visited Sabarmati Ashmram in Ahmedabad and Akshardahm temple in Gandhinagar shortly after his arrival in Gujarat.

He visited the Taj Mahal with his family on Sunday.

He shared images of his visit to the Mughal creation on his social media site.

Accompanied by his family, the 46-year-old prime minister arrived in New Delhi on Saturday evening.

The Canadian Prime Minister will hold a bilateral meeting with PM Narendra Modi on Feb 23.

Both the leaders will talk and focus on key issues like trade, defence, civil nuclear cooperation, space, tackling climate change energy and education. Trudeau's visit is expected to deepen ties between India and Canada.
