Burdwan blast: All arrested accused members of Bangladeshi terror group, says NIA
New Delhi/Kolkata, Oct 24 (IBNS): The The National Investigation Agency (NIA), which is probing the Burdwan blast case in West Bengal, on Friday said all the accused persons arrested and their associates were members of Bangladeshi terror group Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen (JMB).
It also said that the accused members were preparing IEDs which were being transported to Bangladesh.
The NIA has taken two women and BadreAlam into the police custody .
According to the probe agency's statement on Friday, "Investigation so far has revealed that the accused persons and their associates were the members of Jamaat-ulMujahideen, Bangladesh (JMB), a terrorist organisation proscribed in Bangladesh and they were preparing IEDs which were being transported to Bangladesh."
The NIA has completed its initial phase of investigation of the case pertaining to bomb blast in a house at Burdwan's Khagragarh village in which two persons namely Shakil Ahmed and Suvon Mandal ,both allegedly resident of Bangladesh, were killed while fabricating IEDs.
One person namely Abdul Hakim was injured.
The NIA stated that the fourth accused Abdul Hakim Hassan is recuperating in a hospital in judicial custody.
The agency is conducting a thorough probe into the activities of JMB covering all aspects including the funding of terror activities.
DG NIA has made a visit to Burdhwan and Murshidabad on Friday and inspected the scene of crime and also took stock of the field investigation being conducted by his team.
He also discussed the strategy to locate and apprehend the absconding accused with the officers of the investigating team.
The NIA is also considering announcement of cash rewards for any information leading to the arrest of the absconding accused of this case which include JMB members from Bangladesh.
The DG has made an appeal to the media not to speculate as NIA will share the information which could be shared during the course of investigation through its web-site.
