BSP Parliamentary party has sought time to meet Prez, says party chief Mayawati
Lucknow/UNI: Expressing concern over the violence stemming from protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) across the country, Bahujan Samaj Party president Mayawati on Tuesday said BSP's Parliamentary party has sought time from the President for a meeting to apprise him about the present circumstances.
In a statement issued here, she said that the educational institutions of the country were being affected by the violence which has spread amid the protests.
The BSP chief said the party will also raise its voice against this law, atrocities on women and the deteriorating law and order situation in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly.
She said, "I also demand the Union government to withdraw this divisive and unconstitutional Citizenship Amendment Act. It will be in the nation and Constitution's interest. There can be various adverse consequences and it may be possible that in the next Lok Sabha elections, their condition also becomes similar to the Congress in 1977."
