| @indiablooms | Mar 18, 2024, at 03:32 am

Border Security Force (BSF) troopers apprehended a drug smuggler and seized heroin weighing over 600 grams in Punjab's Tarn Taran district on Sunday, a spokesperson said.

The BSF spokesperson said acting on specific intelligence, an ambush party went to a farming field adjacent to Naushera Dhalla village and got alert on hearing the sound of a suspected flying object and the subsequent dropping of a consignment in the border area.

At around 5-05 am the vigilant troops successfully recovered a packet suspected to contain heroin, weighing approximately 610 grams.

The heroin was wrapped in yellow adhesive tape with a steel ring attached to it.

A joint search operation by BSF and Punjab Police then found an individual hiding in a farming field near the narcotics recovery site and apprehended him. He is now being interrogated.
