BSF seizes ten camels worth Rs.3 lakhs from Indo-Bangla border at Malda

Malda, WB, Apr 16 (IBNS): Ten camels worth Rs 3 lakhs were seized in the area of BOP Mahadipur in Malda in West Bengal on Thursday.

Troops of 125 Bn BSF received a specific information regarding smuggling of camels from India to Bangladesh.  

 

The troops launched an intense operation to intercept the camel smugglers. The team noticed some suspicious movement near the Indo-Bangladesh border. 

 

Though Indian miscreants tried to get camels cross the border, their attempts were foiled by the alerted troops and they succeeded to rescue ten camels which have been transported all the way from Rajasthan to bordering area of South Bengal to send across the border, a BSF statement said.

 

The miscreants managed to escape taking advantage of darkness and high raised crops. 

 

The ten seized camels have been handed over to local customs office Mahadipur under District Malda for necessary actions.

          

BSF South Bengal Frontier has seized one Camel in 2013, and in the current year already 17 camels has been seized with an approx value of Rs. 5,10,000/-.
