BS Yediyurappa announces release of Rs 50 Cr for restarting works on Airport in Shivamogga

Shivamogga, Karnataka, Aug 13 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa today directed the concerned officer to release Rs 50 Crore immediately to restart airport works at Sogane Village in the District.

The works were stopped due to technical problems faced. The Airport Authority of India (AAI) refused to permit runway construction as there are large number of smoke-emitting chimneys in the adjacent industrial area. There is a hillock next to it making it impossible to change the direction of the ranway.

Speaking newsmen after offering 'Bagina' at Anjanapura dam in the taluk on Tuesday, he said he aims to develop Shivamogga as a model District and his home constituency Shikaripur into a model Taluk in the State.

He said that the government has already released grant of Rs 1,300 Crore for the implementation of 1,300 irrigation projects in Shikaripur and Sorab Taluks in the District. Tender process has already been completed and works would start soon.
