Bengaluru, Jan 16 (UNI/IBNS) The BJP Karnataka Unit President B S Yeddyurappa on Saturday called on senior party leader and former External Affairs Minister S M Krishna and said he discussed the political situation leading to the April Lok Sabha elections in the state and on the possible selection of party candidates.

Speaking to reporters after meeting the senior statesman, Yeddyurappa said he had a detailed discussion with Krishna on the coming Lok Sabha elections in relation to BJP selection of candidates and he be able to take part in the campaign for BJP candidates.

Krishna said that the BJP State President has requested him to take part in the campaign for the coming Lok Sabha elections.

‘’I have promised him to visit as many segments as possible. We are hopeful that the atmosphere in Karnataka is very encouraging and we want to use this occasion to win at least 22 seats (out of 28 Lok Sabha segments)," he said.

To a question on Rahul Gandhi being invited by State Congress unit from Karnataka to contest in the State, he said, “We have no say on who has to contest from any party. But BJP has its aim and will work towards it.’’

But Krishna refused to react whether he would be contesting in this election.

Meanwhile, Yeddyurappa said he had come to seek opinion about the prospective candidates that could be pitted by the BJP in Karnataka.

‘’He has expressed his views in detail. But what is a more happy news is that in this election he has agreed to campaign for the BJP in Mandya, Chikkamagaluru, Hassan, Shivamogga and other segments.

‘’We are very happy that Mr Krishna has agreed to campaign for BJP candidates in these districts. Our aim is to win 22 seats and whether who would contest from Crongress or JD(S) party , whether it will be Mr Rahul Gandhi or Mr H D Devegowda from which ever segment will not matter for us,’’ he said.

Krishana said he had agreed to campaign for the BJP candidates and ensure that the BJP meet its target of 22 seats from Karnataka.

‘’I will tour the state and seek votes for BJP to best of my abilities as a party worker,’’ he added
