Bombay HC quashes BMC order of demolishing Kangana Ranaut's bungalow

Mumbai/IBNS: In a massive victory for Indian actor Kangana Ranaut, the Bombay High Court on Friday quashed the Mumbai civic body's order of demolishing a part of the Bollywood star's bungalow in Pali Hill here.

The court has said the demolition action by the Shiv Sena-led Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) "was nothing but malice of law".

Terming the portion of the bungalow which has been demolished as "pre-existing", the high court has appointed a valuer to quantify the damage.

Ranaut was entitled to get the compensation, ruled the court.

Reacting to the judgement, Ranaut tweeted, "When an individual stands against the government and wins, it’s not the victory of the individual but it’s the victory of the democracy. Thank you everyone who gave me courage and thanks to those who laughed at my broken dreams. Its only cause you play a villain so I can be a HERO."

Ranaut and Maharashtra's ruling party Shiv Sena were at the loggerheads after the 'Queen' actor questioned Mumbai Police's role in the probe into Bollywood star Sushant Singh Rajput's death.

The BMC had demolished the construction of Ranaut's bungalow calling it as "illegal".
