Guwahati, Jan 16 (IBNS): Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Tuesday faced protests against the Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2016 in Assam's Nagaon district. Several organisations are holding similar protests across the state.

According to the reports, the Assam CM had done to Nagaon to take part in a Bhogali Bihu programme.

When Sonowal unfurled Bihu flag on the Nehrubali field on bank of river Kolong, activists of Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) released black balloons in protest against the Assam CM’s visit and the Citizenship Amendment Bill.

The protesters also shouted slogans against the bill and Sonowal.

Later, police arrested four protesters.

The Assam CM had also faced black flags on the same issue in his own constituency Majuli on Monday.
