The ZP election was held on Tuesday and the results were declared today.

In the 56-member House, BJP won 39 seats, Congress-7, Shiv Sena-4, NCP- and Independents-3 each.

BJP’s Asmita Kamble elected as president of Osmanabad ZP

Meanwhile, the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) received a major jolt in election to the post of president of the Osmanabad Zilla Parishad on Wednesday, when seven Shiv Sena members, followers of MLA and former minister Tanaji Sawant, voted for BJP nominee Asmita Kamble to get her elected.

While, Mr Sawant’s nephew Dhananjay Sawant was elected as vice-president with the help of BJP.

MVA’s candidate Ankita Sherkane of the Sena and Prakash Aaste were in fray for the posts of the president and vice-president, respectively.

During the election for the president’s post, 30 members raised their hands in favour of Ms Kamble and 23 for Ms Sherkane.

Similarly, in election to vice-president’s post, Dhananjay Sawant also got 30 votes while 23 to Mr Aaste.

Notably, Tanaji Sawant, who was unhappy over denial of ministership in the MVA government, has shown his might in this election by making Sena members to vote for the opposition party.
