Kolkata/UNI: West Bengal on Saturday witnessed the first phase poll to 30 seats in five Jangalmahal districts - Medinipur East and West, Purulia, Jhargram and Purulia where nearly 55 per cent polled was recorded upto 1 pm.

"I have been in West Bengal for past six years and never experienced such peaceful polling since 2016 and I believed this election is so far very peaceful in past 4 decades,"  Vijayvargiya said.

He said as far as he knew 90 percent polling was peaceful and claimed the ratio to the cent percent in the 2nd phase if all the known criminals are rounded up before April 1.

He said they have given list of criminals to the poll body to take lawful action and ensure total peaceful poll in next 7 phases.

He also accused chief minster and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee for calling Suvendu Adhikari's election agent Praloy Pal to help her in Nandigram election.

Banerjee is contesting Nandigram seat and is pitted against BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari on Apirl 1.

The BJP leadership during the media conference showed the audio clipping of conversation between Ms Banerjee and Pal as the former was requesting the latter to help her party in the election.

Pal said he was with the TMC but now he was a dedicated BJP worker and Suvendu Adhikari always stood by his family side in time of crisis.

"I can not betray Suvendu Adhikari," Pal replied and thanked Ms Banerjee for calling him on phone.

BJP state president Dilip Ghosh claimed that TMC would draw blank in Jangalmahal districts.
