BJP govt not concerned about farmers, youths: Rahul Gandhi in Uttar Pradesh

| @indiablooms | Jan 05, 2023, at 05:20 am

Baghpat (UP)/UNI: Former national president of Congress Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is working to benefit his capitalist friends and he is not concerned about payments of the cane farmers to the tune of several crore rupees or providing jobs to the unemployed youths.

On the second day of the Bharat Jodo Yatra in Uttar Pradesh, the yatra started from Mawi Kalan village in Baghpat and ended at Chhaprauli Chungi in Baraut with a public meeting.

While the yatra generated a huge response from the party workers, it was welcomed by Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) and Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) workers.

Addressing the public meeting, Rahul said that the deaf and dumb government of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is hell-bent on privatising and selling institutions, including banks, Railways and Airports.

On receiving affection from the public, he said that I will be indebted to this affection throughout my life.

Touching the soft spot of farmers, unemployed youth and poor labourers, Rahul said that the BJP government at the centre and in the state continues to remain deaf and dumb towards their problems.

He alleged that the government is playing with the future of the youths by providing them with only four years of employment through the Agniveer scheme.

The Congress leader said that the objective of the yatra is to end the hatred and violence that is being spread in the country.

"It is BJP's policy to scare the youth, farmers and labourers of the country. Demonetisation, wrong GST and all the policies they brought during Covid are to scare the farmers and labourers. As they know, when they spread fear, it is very easy to turn that fear into hatred. This is their work. Scare the public, scare the farmer, the labourer, the youth and convert their fear into hatred," he said.

Meanwhile, after addressing the meeting Rahul left for Delhi following reports that the Congress president and his mother Sonia Gandhi has been admitted to the hospital. Party sources said that he will reach Ailum town in Shamli district at Thursday morning at 5 am, from where the yatra will resume at 6 am.

Earlier, while addressing the meeting, the Congress leader said that instead of his T-Shirt questions should be asked about the torn shirt of the son of a farmer. He said that it is due to demonetisation and GST, unemployment is spreading in the country.

He said, "Youths who are engineering graduates are working as labourers and frying pakoras."
