BJP faces Twitter ire after Pamela Goswami got arrested for carrying cocaine

Kolkata/IBNS: Linking the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) probe into Sushant Singh Rajput's death, several Twitterati have slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after saffron party leader Pamela Goswami was arrested for carrying cocaine on Friday.

Several Twitterati asked whether Goswami would be probed in the same manner several Bollywood personalities were investigated over the drug use angle related to Rajput's suicide last year.

Congress spokesperson Shama Mohamed tweeted, "The BJP govt unleashed the NCB after Rhea Chakraborty for allegedly smoking a small quantity of marijuana. But now BJP leader Pamela Goswami has been caught with nearly 100 grams of #cocaine. The entire country is waiting for NCB to file a case against her!"

Acting on a tip off, the Kolkata Police on Friday afternoon arrested BJP youth leader Pamela Goswami and her friend, Prabir Kumar Dey, with around 100 gms of cocaine from city's posh New Alipore area.

According to reports, policemen stopped her car at New Alipore area and seized the contraband drug worth few lakh rupees from their possessions.

City police officials said that they had been taken to New Alipore Police Station for further interrogation and they will be produced before a local court on Saturday.

Pamela Goswami is the state secretary of Bharatiya Janta Yuva Morcha (BJYM) while her associate, Prabir Kumar Dey, is also attached with BJP, according to sources.
