BJP delegation meets President Ram Nath Kovind over violence in West Bengal

New Delhi, Oct 15 (UNI) The BJP on Tuesday stepped up pressure on Mamata Banerjee-led West Bengal government for the deteriorating law and order situation and sought President Ram Nath Kovind's intervention.

A delegation of BJP leaders led by senior leader Kailash Vijayvargiya met Kovind here and informed about the kind of situation being faced by the saffron party cadres and supporters.

“We have apprised the President of the situation in Bengal. We have informed what our cadres are going through," Vijayvargiya later said.

The delegation also comprised of leaders such as Mukul Roy and Swapan Dasgupta.

Sources said the BJP leaders are also likely to meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah but the party is not yet in favour of dismissal of the Mamata Banerjee-led government.

The latest confrontation between BJP and Trinamool Congress regime has surfaced after three members of a family — Bandhuprakash Pal, his wife Beauty and their eight-year-old son — were found killed in their house at Jiaganj in the Murshidabad district on October 8.

The BJP and the RSS have attributed political motive behind the 'murder' stating Bandhuprakash Pal used to attend RSS meetings.

The BJP leaders have claimed in recent past at least 35 party cadres have been killed allegedly by Trinamool workers in the state.
