BJP committed to give clean govt in Karnataka: JP Nadda
New Delhi, Jul 26 (UNI) Hours before a new BJP regime takes charge of governance in the southern state of Karnataka, BJP working president J P Nadda on Friday said the JD(S)-Congress government fell due to "its own reasons" and asserted his party will provide a clean administration there.
In a press conference at party head quarters accompanied by Union Ministers Piyush Goyal and Prakash Javadekar and a few party office bearers, Mr Nadda said: "Karnataka government (under JD(S)-Congress) fell due to its own reasons. B S Yeddyurappa made forward movement only after that process. These things happen as per the wishes of democratic forces".
"The result is shown in the governance itself....I will only say BJP is a party committed to provide clean administration, we will take the process further," Mr Nadda said.
The stage is set for swearing in of Mr Yeddyurappa as the new Chief Minister of Karnataka by 1800 hours on Friday.
The JD(S)-Congress government was voted out in state legislature on Tuesday.
"Under the instructions of Amit Shah and J P Nadda, Mr Yeddyurappaji will take oath as CM of Karnataka today at 6:00 PM. A new dawn for Karnataka. Congratulations to all the Karyakartas and supporters who made this possible," tweeted BJP MP Shobha Karandlaje, also known for being a key member of Team Yeddyurappa.
Another senior BJP leader and party's newly appointed general secretary Organisation B L Santhosh also backed the move to form new government headed by former Chief Minister Yeddyurappa and tweeted saying: "Karnataka set to witness a new era in its Vikas Yatra ...Yeddyurappa will take oath as Chief Minister of Karnataka at 6 pm today".
Nadda is likely to take over as new BJP chief by January 2020.
