BJP accuses Kejriwal of lavish 2-acre ‘7-star mansion’ in Chandigarh; AAP hits back

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has targeted Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal over what it claims is a “2-acre, 7-star mansion” being built for him in Chandigarh’s Sector 2.

In a post on X, BJP’s Delhi unit shared what it described as a satellite image of a “luxurious 7-star government bungalow”, alleging that it was being constructed from Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s quota for Kejriwal’s use.

“Big Breaking – The man who pretended to be the common man, Kejriwal, has had another grand Sheesh Mahal built,” the BJP’s Delhi unit wrote. Calling him Punjab’s “super CM”, the party said the AAP leader has found an “even more splendid Sheesh Mahal” after vacating his Delhi bungalow.

BJP’s Punjab unit described the alleged residence as Kejriwal’s “new royal palace,” claiming that the Punjab government was acting as “Kejriwal’s personal service team, wasting taxpayers’ money while Punjab suffers in drugs, unemployment, and corruption.”

The party also alleged that Kejriwal “took off from this mansion in a Punjab government helicopter, switched to the state’s private jet in Ambala, and flew to Gujarat — all for his party’s political campaign, not Punjab’s welfare.”

Adding to the criticism, AAP Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal questioned the AAP leadership over the same issue, claiming that “the entire Punjab government is engaged in serving one man.”

She dismissed AAP’s explanation that the property was a camp office, asking, “If this is a camp office, then in the last 4 years, how many people came here to meet the CM? How many times did the CM sit in this office?” Maliwal further alleged, “The truth is that Punjab's super CM resides in this house.”

AAP rejects charges, points to BJP-run Chandigarh administration

The Aam Aadmi Party has denied the allegations, calling them “baseless” and challenged the BJP to produce evidence that the bungalow was ever allotted to Kejriwal.

AAP’s national media officer Anurag Dhanda accused the BJP of spreading misinformation to distract from Delhi’s air pollution issue.

He wrote on X, “Chandigarh has a BJP administration, so the question is: Who approved the map? Who gave the electricity connection? Who gave the water connection? How did the police allow it to be built? And when are you going to demolish it?”

Dhanda further taunted the BJP, asking, “…when are you going to demolish it?”
