Bikram Singh visits Headquarters Eastern Command
New Delhi, May 7 (IBNS): The Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Bikram Singh visited Headquarters Eastern Command on Wednesday.
Lt General MMS Rai, Army Commander, Eastern Command briefed the COAS on the operational preparedness, security situation and the progress of infrastructure development in the Eastern Theatre.
The COAS reiterated that Eastern Theatre will be given due importance including requisite thrust on development of infrastructure to support troops deployed in the challenging and hostile terrain of the region.

He also took stock of the new raisings, including 17 Corps, which commenced raising on Jan 1 2014. The COAS was also briefed on the internal security situation in the North Eastern States.
The Chief, thereafter, addressed the officers in the station, emphasising the need to uphold the core values of the Army and urged them to strengthen the work culture hinging on professional ethos.
He also emphasised on the importance of taking care of the requirements and needs of the ex-servicemen and ‘Veer Naris’.
