Bihar topper scam : Former BSEB Chairman arrested with wife

Patna, June 20 (IBNS) Former Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) chairman Lalkeshwar Prasad Singh and his wife were arrested by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) from Varanasi on Monday, in connection with the Bihar topper scam in the state, reports said.

The warrant against Singh, a key accused in the case, was issued by a Patna civil court. Singh, with his wife Usha, went underground after resigning from the board.

A former JDU legislator, Usha Singh is a co-accused in the case. 

The SIT had earlier arrested Baccha Rai, principal of VR college, who is stated to be the mastermind of the scam. They recovered from his office and residence cash worth Rs. 20 lakh, a pistol and five live rounds of cartridges.
