Bharat Jodo Yatra: Central Force replies after Congress alleges Rahul Gandhi's 'security breach'

New Delhi/IBNS: Congress MP Rahul Gandhi broke security protocol in the Delhi leg of nationwide rally Bharat Jodo Yatra, the central force said this after the party alleged its top leader's security was breached on a number of occasions in the national capital, media reports said.

Accusing Gandhi of breaking security protocol, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) said as quoted by NDTV, "Security arrangements made for the protectee works fine when the protectee himself adheres to the security guidelines laid down.

"However, it is pointed out that on several occasions violations of laid down guidelines on the part of Shri Rahul Gandhi have been observed and this fact has been communicated to him from time to time."

"It may further be mentioned that during the Delhi leg of Bharat Jodo Yatra, the protectee has violated security guidelines and CRPF will be taking up this matter separately," it added.

In a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Congress general secretary KC Venugopal on Wednesday said Gandhi's security was compromised on a number of occasions after his rally entered Delhi.

Gandhi, a former Congress president, is entitled to Z+ or the highest level of security.

Venugopal wrote to the minister that the Delhi Police, which falls under the central government's jurisdiction, was a "mute spectator" when Gandhi's security was compromised.

The Bharat Jodo Yatra, which is spearheaded by Gandhi, began from Kanyakumari in September.
