Bengal SSC Scam: Arrested by ED, Arpita Mukherjee wails, protests, refuses to comply with security forces

Kolkata: Jailed former Bengal minister Partha Chatterjee's aide Arpita Mukherjee staged a dramatic protest, giving a tough time to security forces as they tried to take her for a court-mandated medical check-up to ESI Hospital in Kolkata's Joka.

Arpita refused to comply when asked to step out of the vehicle in which she was brought. And, when the security forces tried to get her out, she wailed and protested, flapping her arms to ward off the security personnel.

When the security forces finally managed to bring her out of the car, she sat on the ground.

The security forces urged her to walk but she refused. Even as she jostled with the security forces, they managed to sit her in a wheelchair and take her for checkup.

Partha Chatterjee was also in a wheelchair but was taken in before Arpita.

"I am a victim of a conspiracy," he said to the media assembled there while going in.

Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee Thursday removed arrested leader Partha Chatterjee from all party posts while suspending him from the party.

Earlier on Thursday, the West Bengal Chief Minister also sacked Partha from all ministries.

Partha Chatterjee held the Commerce and Industry, Parliamentary Affairs, Information Technology and Electronics, and Public Enterprises and Industrial Reconstruction portfolios in the state Cabinet.

The teacher recruitment scam traces back to the time when he was the state's education minister.
